    OVERVIEW

The complete flanged joint — from one supplier

EMG supplies engineered flange sealing solutions built to withstand the pressure, temperature and corrosive service seen across Oil & Gas, LNG, Petrochemical and Power Generation projects worldwide.

Our range spans spiral wound (SWG), ring type joint (RTJ), Kammprofile, corrugated metal, jacketed and non-asbestos sheet gaskets — in Duplex, Super Duplex, 6Mo, Inconel, Monel, Hastelloy, stainless and carbon steel windings, with graphite, PTFE, ceramic or mica fillers matched to service medium.

A flanged joint is only as reliable as its weakest component — mismatched gaskets, bolts or flanges are the single largest source of leak-path failures. We supply the whole joint, engineered and certified together.

    FAMILY 01 — METALLIC GASKETS

High-integrity sealing for high pressure & temperature

Widely used in petrochemical, LNG and wellhead service. Metal cores combined with soft sealing media — typically graphite — deliver very high leak-tightness on flanged joints from Class 150 up to API 6A 20K.

    ASME B16.20

    Spiral Wound Gasket (SWG)

Alternating metal winding and soft filler — the industry-default semi-metallic gasket for raised-face flanges from Class 150 to Class 2500. Highly leak-tight and forgiving of minor flange irregularity.

    • With Outer Ring (CG)
    • Inner + Outer Ring
    Grooved Metal Core

    Kammprofile Gasket

Solid serrated metal core faced with graphite or PTFE. Tolerates lower bolt load and slight flange misalignment — the preferred choice for heat exchangers and joints that are repeatedly opened.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    Technical FAQs

Which gasket type should I specify for a high-pressure raised-face flange?

    +
For raised-face flanges from Class 150 up to Class 2500, spiral wound gaskets (SWG) to ASME B16.20 are the default. Above Class 900 — or where a positive metal-to-metal seal is required (typical of API 6A wellhead service) — a Ring Type Joint (RTJ) is specified: Type R for Class 900/1500 and Type BX for API 6A 10,000 psi and above.

What is the difference between Kammprofile and spiral wound gaskets?

    +
Both are semi-metallic. Kammprofile uses a serrated solid metal core faced with graphite or PTFE; a SWG uses alternating metal V-strip and soft filler wound in a spiral. Kammprofiles tolerate lower seating stress and flange misalignment — often preferred for heat exchangers and re-used joints. SWGs remain the ASME B16.20 default for standard process piping.

Can you supply gaskets, flanges, studs and nuts as a matched joint kit?

    +
Yes. Because EMG stocks pipe, fittings, flanges, stud bolts, nuts, washers and gaskets under one quality system, we supply the complete bolted flanged joint — correctly matched for pressure class, temperature, material and coating — with a single MTR pack and single-source traceability.

Which winding and filler should I choose for sour service (H₂S)?

    +
For sour service to NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 we typically supply Inconel 625 or 825 windings with flexible graphite filler for SWGs, and Inconel 625 for RTJ gaskets. RTJ hardness must be lower than the flange groove, and full NACE-compliant MTRs are provided with every order.

Do you supply insulation kits for cathodic protection?

    +
Yes — Type E (full-face), Type F (raised-face) and Type D (RTJ) insulation kits with G10 / G11 or phenolic retainers, PTFE / GRE seal elements, insulating sleeves and double washers — used on pipelines, subsea and offshore flanges.
