Fasteners for Mining & Minerals Processing

Heavy-duty structural bolting for crushers, conveyors, mills, and processing equipment. Built for extreme mechanical stress and harsh operating environments.

    OVERVIEW

Engineered Bolting for Heavy Mining Applications

Mining and minerals processing operations subject fasteners to extreme mechanical stress, constant vibration, abrasive environments, and demanding maintenance schedules. Equipment uptime is critical, and fastener failure can result in costly production shutdowns and safety incidents.

We supply high-strength structural bolting, heavy hex fasteners, and specialty components for fixed plant equipment including crushers, SAG mills, ball mills, conveyors, and processing systems. Our fasteners are selected for durability, ease of installation, and reliable performance.

With options for protective coatings, oversized grades, and custom specifications, we support mining operations from open-pit sites to underground facilities and mineral processing plants.

EMG also manages drawing-controlled supply of large-diameter collars, sleeves, pump shafts, bearing housings, valve stems and manifold components through qualified machining partners. Material, usable part capacity, tolerances, inspection and lead time are confirmed against each RFQ; EMG does not claim ownership of the machining equipment.

EMG supplies Grade 8.8, 10.9, and 12.9 high-strength structural bolting for crushers, SAG mills, and conveyors — with hot-dip galvanizing and abrasion-resistant coatings for extended service life in harsh mining environments.

    INDUSTRY SECTORS

    Where Our Fasteners Are Installed

A closer look at the key sectors within mining & minerals processing where our fasteners play a critical role in equipment integrity and safety.

Extraction — Open Pit & Underground

Mining extraction subjects fasteners to extreme mechanical shock, vibration from blasting, and abrasive dust environments. Equipment bolting must be robust, easily replaced during maintenance windows, and resistant to fatigue failure.

    Key Equipment
    • Primary and secondary crushers
    • Haul truck and shovel assemblies
    • Drill rigs and roof bolting systems
    • Ore chutes, bins, and liner plates
    • Ventilation and dewatering systems

    Comminution & Material Handling

SAG mills, ball mills, and conveyor systems generate constant vibration and heavy cyclic loads. Fasteners for grinding circuits and material handling must withstand sustained dynamic stress and enable efficient replacement during scheduled shutdowns.

    Key Equipment
    • SAG mills and ball mills
    • Conveyor structures and idler frames
    • Screens, feeders, and classifiers
    • Transfer chutes and diverter gates
    • Stackers, reclaimers, and ship loaders

    Processing & Hydrometallurgy

Mineral processing plants use chemical and physical separation methods that expose fasteners to acidic slurries, chloride-rich water, and elevated temperatures. Corrosion-resistant and coated fasteners are essential for long service intervals.

    Key Equipment
    • Flotation cells and thickeners
    • Leach tanks and agitators
    • Slurry pumps and cyclones
    • Electrowinning and SX circuits
    • Filtration and tailings systems

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    Technical FAQs

Can you quote large-diameter collars, sleeves and pump or valve parts for mining?

    +
Yes. Send a controlled drawing or model, revision, OD/ID/length, approximate weight, material, quantity, fits, finish, inspection requirements, site postcode and required date. EMG confirms the partner route and usable capacity before quotation; machine-axis travels are not guaranteed finished-part diameters. OEM equivalence and design suitability require buyer engineering approval.

Do you support Mackay, Bowen Basin and Australia-wide mining maintenance?

    +
EMG accepts RFQs from Mackay, Moranbah, the Bowen Basin, Mount Isa, Pilbara, Goldfields, Hunter Valley and mining operations in every Australian state and territory. Supply is managed from Brisbane through qualified partners, with delivery route and lead time confirmed for your site. These are service areas, not claims of local workshops.

What bolt grade is strongest for mining equipment?

    +
Grade 12.9 provides the highest strength at 1220 MPa minimum tensile, but Grade 10.9 (1040 MPa) is more commonly specified for mining applications as it offers an optimal balance of strength and ductility. Grade 8.8 (800 MPa) is the standard for general structural connections in mining plant construction.

What coatings protect mining fasteners from corrosion?

    +
Hot-dip galvanizing (AS/NZS 4680 or ASTM A153) is the most common coating for mining fasteners, providing 50-100+ years of atmospheric corrosion protection. For more aggressive environments, we supply Xylan/PTFE fluoropolymer coatings, GEOMET zinc-flake coatings, and mechanical zinc plating for high-strength grades where HDG is not suitable.

Can you supply fasteners for SAG mill and crusher maintenance shutdowns?

    +
Yes. We provide pre-staged fastener packages for mining plant shutdowns, including crusher liner bolts, mill shell bolts, and structural connections. We align delivery schedules with your planned outage window and maintain contingency stock for scope changes during execution.
