2205 duplex stainless combines austenitic and ferritic phases. UNS S31803 and S32205 are related but separately defined designations; the purchase specification must identify the permitted grade.

No automatic substitutions
Do not infer dual certification between S31803 and S32205. Heat treatment, phase balance and required corrosion tests need appropriate records.

State the required chemical, mechanical, hardness and dimensional records. Request EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2, PMI or witness inspection where the project requires them; the quotation must identify the agreed scope.
