Nickel Alloys
Premium nickel-based alloys engineered for the most demanding environments — extreme temperatures, aggressive chemicals, and severe corrosion conditions. Stocked and supplied across Australia with full traceability.
Material Characteristics
Nickel-based alloys represent the pinnacle of fastener metallurgy, offering exceptional performance where standard steels and stainless grades cannot survive. These alloys maintain their mechanical properties at temperatures from cryogenic to over 700°C, while providing outstanding resistance to oxidation, carburisation, and a wide range of corrosive media.
Inconel alloys (nickel-chromium) excel in high-temperature oxidising environments and are extensively used in gas turbines, exhaust systems, and furnace applications. Monel alloys (nickel-copper) provide outstanding resistance to seawater, acids, and alkalis. Hastelloy grades offer near-universal chemical resistance.
EMG supplies a comprehensive range of nickel alloy fasteners sourced from approved mills with full EN 10204 3.1 certification, PMI testing, and compliance with NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 for sour service applications.

Available Fastener Types
Inconel 625 Fasteners — The Workhorse
Inconel 625 (UNS N06625, ASTM B446) is the most widely specified nickel alloy fastener grade in Australian oil & gas. Its niobium-strengthened matrix delivers 827 MPa tensile strength without precipitation hardening, outstanding resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in seawater, and NACE MR0175 compliance for sour service. We supply Inconel 625 stud bolts, hex bolts and nuts for subsea manifolds, risers and wellhead equipment.
Inconel 718 — Highest Strength
Precipitation-hardened Inconel 718 (UNS N07718, ASTM B637) achieves tensile strengths over 1240 MPa while maintaining excellent corrosion resistance. It is the material of choice for subsea Christmas tree bolting, high-pressure wellhead connectors and aerospace engine fasteners — anywhere maximum clamp load must be combined with corrosion resistance.
Monel 400 & K-500 — Marine Specialists
Monel 400 (UNS N04400, ASTM B164) nickel-copper alloy is the traditional choice for fasteners in flowing seawater, marine splash zones and hydrofluoric acid service. Age-hardened Monel K-500 (UNS N05500) roughly doubles the strength while retaining the corrosion performance, making it ideal for high-load marine and offshore bolting, pump shafts and valve trim.
Hastelloy C-276 & C-22 — Chemical Service
Hastelloy C-276 (UNS N10276) offers near-universal resistance to aggressive chemical media — wet chlorine, hypochlorites, ferric and cupric chlorides, and contaminated mineral acids. C-22 (UNS N06022) improves resistance to oxidising media. These grades are standard for fasteners in chemical processing, FGD systems and pollution control equipment.
Sour Service Compliance
Incoloy 825 and Inconel 625 are NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 compliant for sour service. We supply with full documentation including hardness certification and proof of compliance to the relevant environmental limits.
Extreme Temperature Service
Inconel 600 and 625 maintain structural integrity to 982–1093°C, making them essential for furnace components, gas turbine hot sections, and high-temperature exhaust systems.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about nickel alloys fasteners, specifications, and applications.
What is the strongest nickel alloy for fasteners?
Inconel 718 (precipitation hardened) achieves tensile strengths over 1240 MPa — the highest of any nickel alloy fastener grade. It is the standard material for subsea Christmas tree bolting and aerospace engine components.
What is the difference between Inconel 625 and Inconel 718?
Inconel 625 is a solid-solution strengthened alloy (827 MPa tensile) prized for corrosion and fatigue resistance in seawater and sour service. Inconel 718 is precipitation hardened to over 1240 MPa tensile, sacrificing some corrosion resistance for roughly 50% higher strength. Choose 625 for corrosion-critical service, 718 for strength-critical bolting.
Which nickel alloy is best for seawater?
Monel 400 (Ni-Cu) provides excellent resistance to flowing seawater with minimal pitting or stress corrosion cracking. Monel K-500 adds age-hardening for higher strength. For more aggressive chloride environments with H₂S, Inconel 625 or Incoloy 825 are preferred.
Are nickel alloy fasteners NACE MR0175 compliant?
Inconel 625, Incoloy 825, and Hastelloy C-276 are all listed as acceptable materials in NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 for sour service when supplied within the specified hardness and heat treatment limits. Full compliance documentation is provided.
Do you supply Inconel and Monel fasteners in Australia?
Yes. EMG supplies Inconel 625 and 718, Monel 400 and K-500, Incoloy 825 and Hastelloy C-276 fasteners to projects across Australia — including Perth, Brisbane, Darwin and Gladstone — with EN 10204 3.1 certification, PMI testing and full traceability from approved mills.
Why are nickel alloy fasteners so expensive?
Nickel alloy fasteners cost 5–15× more than stainless steel due to the high cost of raw materials (nickel, chromium, molybdenum), complex melting practices (VIM/VAR for 718), low production volumes, and extensive testing requirements including PMI and NACE documentation.
