ASTM A320 L7 Cold-Service Stud Bolts for Canada

Canadian winter ambient and LNG cryogenic duty mean many joints cannot use standard B7 bolting. ASTM A320 L7 and L7M stud bolts are impact tested at low temperature, giving documented toughness for cold-service flanges and structural connections.

    OVERVIEW

    Engineered supply, not off-the-shelf.

We supply L7 / L7M studs with matching ASTM A194 nuts, in imperial and metric sizes, cut to length and kitted per joint.

ASTM A320 L7 stud bolts are the standard choice for Canadian cold-service flanges; Energy Materials Group supplies them with Charpy impact results and EN 10204 3.1 certification from a non-US supply base.

    SERVICE CONDITIONS

What the joint has to survive

    Why not B7?

B7 is not impact tested for low-temperature service, so specifications for Canadian outdoor and cryogenic joints commonly call for A320 L7 or L7M instead.

    L7M for sour + cold

Where sour gas and low temperature combine, L7M offers hardness control alongside impact-tested toughness.

    Coatings

PTFE / Xylan or hot-dip galvanised coatings protect against de-icing salt and moisture.

Origin & documentation on every quote

    FAQ

    Common questions

What is the difference between L7 and L7M?

Both are impact-tested low-temperature grades. L7M has a maximum hardness limit, making it suitable where sour service and low temperature combine.

Which nuts pair with A320 L7 studs?

L7 studs are commonly paired with ASTM A194 Grade 4 or Grade 7 nuts, impact tested where the specification requires it.

Is your bolting supplied from outside the United States?

Yes. Canadian orders are dispatched from our Brisbane, Australia hub and shipped direct to your consignee or customs broker — they are not routed through the United States. Every quote states the declared country of origin and HS classification so your broker can confirm duty treatment before you commit. We do not provide customs or duty advice.
